The National Council conducts a screening program for Hip and Elbow dysplasia which uses the BVA scoring system. Only scores received through the NRCA scheme are recognised as acceptable
Effective 2023 the following Veterinary Radiologists are the recognised official Readers for the NRC(A) HD/ED Scheme, and will accept correctly identified hip and elbow x-rays accompanied by National Rottweiler Council (A) numbered paperwork sent to them directly and will return results to the National Breed Recorder. X-Rays must be permanently embossed with dogs Microchip Number and NRC(A) issued Paperwork Number.
The Rottweiler is a large powerful and sometimes strong minded dog that is not for everyone, he is best suited to an owner that is willing to work with him; he is not suited to being shut in a yard with no stimulation. The National Rottweiler Council (Australia) has a database with the results of Members Breeding Stock, a simple check can verify the results of the parents of pups you may be interested in. You can also research the Pedigree of the parents.
